a few more days

a few more days

and then I will post something meaningful, crafty, and with pictures.  I took some great ones this weekend that I can’t wait to do something with, but have spent a lot of time working and working and working and working and it is normally late by the time I am home, a mom, and get the kids to bed.  Hoping that will slow down soon…

I will be back…   I promise!

    time management

    time management

is an art I have yet to master.  I seem to go in waves…

Waves of time where I have time – time to play, time to sleep, time to create, time to live life, time to enjoy the little moment.s

Then there are other waves, big ginormous ones, that hit…

Waves of time when I have very little time to eat lunch, no time to play, sleep is luxury, and I feel like the train is half off the tracks…

That second wave has been this week.  It has left me exhausted and frustrated.  It has drained me completely and left me waiting for the tides to recede and for a wave of time to flow in…  not sure if and when that will happen as I look at my upcoming months, but I hope so for my sake and my family’s sake…

I hope to have some pics of a couple projects to share over the weekend.

Also – how are your 1440 projects coming along… so far only one person has loaded their project…  You have until the end of the day on March 31st to load your day to be entered into the contest…  Can’t wait to see what you do!

    some st. patricks pics

We have had a really nice few days…

Matt was out of town, so I took some time off last week, and was home with the boys.  We painted Jacob’s room, which turned out super cute (need to take pics of that), celebrated St. Patrick’s Day together at a local Irish pub, and just had some great mother-son time.  While the boys had a rough day on Friday – really rough – the rest of the week and weekend were truly enjoyable, with a lot of laughing and some great stories to share later…

I did want to share with you some fun pics of the kids and our Guinness Chocolate Cake from St. Patrick’s Day…  then I am off to get caught up on work and hopefully finish some projects to share tomorrow!!!!

Happy Monday – and be sure to make it Memorable!!!!

Which reminds me…  Christine – you are the only one to have posted pictures to the memorable Mondays gallery this week, so you are the big winner!!!  Email me your info and I will get your prize out to you!!!!!

And, I was a good mom…  that is just plain old lemonade in their cups…  nothing special for the day…

    wow… lain… thanks!

    wow… lain… thanks!

So, after being sick and behind in the blogging world, I am scrolling around and see that my dear friend Lain has tagged be as a Kreative Blogger…  I am now going to follow the rules of the deal-y-o and share away!

    1.  Thank the person who nominated you…  Thanks Lain – you inspire me regularly so this is seriously somewhat surreal that you picked me…  wow.

    2. Copy the logo and post it.  Done!

    3.  List 7 things people might find interesting about you.  Really?  I am not sure I can find 7 interesting facts, but here 7 random facts…

    • I want to learn to crotchet – bought yarn, needles, and have a family history of it (my grandma), but have yet to make anything at all yet…  I will.  Soon.  I hope.
    • I love to cook – I am a Food Networkjunkie and I am willing to try a lot of recipes if they sound good.  To go along with this, I read cookbooks like novels and flag everything I want to make.  Nigella, Rachael, Guy, and Alton are people my kids think are relatives.

    • Someday I will go to Paris where I will sit under the Eiffel Tower, eat crunchy, crusty bread, eat fresh amazing cheese, and drink wine all on a picnic blanket,  feeling so blessed and lucky to be there, with no cares in the world, and enjoying every second and every bite. (run-on sentence, but so true)
    • I am taking a class to learn how to curl – as in the current Olympic sport of curling.  I have always found it facsinating and have always wanted to learn.  I just found out that Madison houses one-of, if not THE, largest club curling facilities in the country…  I think it is time to give it a try!

    • I can watch Ferris Bueller’s Day Off from start to finish and know 98% of the lines in any given scene. (See random, not interesting…) I also believe that remaking this movie would be a travesty against nature.  Just sayin’…

    • I have never been anywhere exciting…  this is the list of places I have NEVER been… or at least some of it:
    1. New York
    2. Anywhere requiring a flight over an ocean – including, but not limited to – Europe, Hawaii, Australia, China, etc… etc…
    3. Seattle
    4. San Fransisco (well – I connected at the airport once, but that was it…  nice airport, but would like to see more…)
    5. anyway… you get the idea….
    • I start taking classes TOMORROW to become a Master Gardener – help us all!!!  I can barely grow tomatoes, so this will be truly interesting…

    4.  Nominate 7 creative bloggers – I do not expect some of these people to even see this, let alone play along, but they are all women who truly motivate and inspire me to be a crafter and I *heart* them all!

    • Kathy Cano-Murillo – she just rocks it like nobody else and is about as nice as any person physically can be.
    • Margot Potter – because she makes me want to take more beading classes and makes me smile.
    • Margie Romney-Aslett- because she is an amazing crafter and even more amazing person.  She makes me a better person every time I am with her.
    • Kelly Purkey – I dream of traveling and crafting and eating the way she does, and looking that good while doing it all!
    • Lisa Pace - I look at glitter in a whole new light and way thanks to her and her sparkling personality!
    • Melody Ross – her blog is visually and spiritually stunning
    • Angie Lucas- She is seriously witty, talented, and one ella of a good gal…

Okay…  now back to your regularly scheduled day!

    is pondering and surfing tonight

    is pondering and surfing tonight

Warning… this might be a disjointed crazy post full of ramblings…  sorry.  Sometimes I just have to do this…

I am sitting on the couch right now, surfing the web and pondering the crafty world.

I have some great friends and I am sitting here reflecting on that as well.

It reminds me of how lucky I am – I have a job doing what I love in an industry I adore.  Not many people can say that and I am again reminded of that.  I do not take it for granted.  I am so thankful for it.

I feel the need to do a grateful list, which is something I haven’t done in a while, and that I enjoy doing.  So, here is a start of one at least…

    1. My family.
    2. Amazing inspiration from fellow crafty types all over the web.
    3. A fire in the fireplace and snow on the ground.
    4. Finally feeling at home in our house and in WI.
    5. Breakfast for dinner.  Who doesn’t want bacon at 6:00pm?!?!?!
    6. Godiva.  Need I say more?
    7. Family game night.
    8. Boxes of delectable crafty goodness that come to my doorstep…
    9. Time to breathe this week.
    10. Facial masks.
    11. My first haircut since September.  Seriously.  Mall of America at Scrapfest to be exact.  No joke.
    12. My uber comfy delta phi scrappa sweatpants.
    13. A cozy comforter.
    14. Time to craft and play and create and make stuff.
    15. Seeing friends and reconnecting at CHA.
    16. The ability to multitask almost non-stop all day long.
    17. The ability to stop multi-tasking and enjoy a fire in the fireplace.
    18. Catching up on the magazines that have piled up – which includes tearing out stuff and making an inspiration pile entitled “I Can Make That!” which applies to crafty creations and recipes alike.
    19. An absolutely AWESOME playlist.
    20. All the small things like clean clothes, a glass of water, a roof, etc… that we often take for granted each and every day.

Now… I am done rambling.  I am grateful.

    Good night.

    thriving sucks

    thriving sucks

    There.  I said it.

I officially picked the wrong word for 2009.

2008′s word was “change” and it was perfect.  This year I did not do so good on picking a word… here is why.

I looked at ”thrive” as a word meaning to excel, to continue to move forward, etc…  instead I got the bit about “thriving in bad conditions” which was not at all my goal for this year.  Here is where we did well…

    • We thrived as a family during a move to a new town and state in the middle of winter with 3 feet of snow on the ground.
    • We thrived as a family as Matt has continued to look for a job this past year.
    • We thrived as a family when other members of my family were dealing with issues of all sorts.
    • We thrived as a family as we struggled to figure out how to pay bills with less income.
    • We thrived as a family while dealing with the loss of my grandmother.

All of these are ways that we “thrived” this year.  Just not exactly what I was looking for as I entered 2009, however.

Now, even though it is only the 16th of December, I am looking to 2010.  A new year.  A new decade.  I am looking at what word will I kick off a whole new era with flair and style and capture all that I want the year and decade to be.  I think that I have it.

I am going old school, kickin’ it 1985 style with my word, but I don’t care.

On January 1, 2010 things will be changing here on my blog, and hopefully, in a lot of other ways as well.  I am making some changes and moving into some new paths and directions with my crafting, my family, and my goals in life.  I will be taking baby steps, but I really want to take my 2010 word and live it up and embrace it wholeheartedly.

Other years I have been very serious and thoughtful about my word.  Not this time.  This time it is about this one life we have to live.  This one trip on earth that we share.  It is about embracing all that is creative, fun, enjoyable, and exciting about life and just going for it.  I love my word and I will be happy to share it on 1/1/10…

Oh – and to kick off the new attitude a tad early, I was brave and went back to my real hair color at 10:00 pm Tuesday night…  holy cats, here we gooooooooo….
