a playlist for life…

Why is it that every really great movie comes with an equally amazing playlist? My guess is that they pay people a TON of money to create that soundtrack – actually, I know that is exactly what they do.

So, why should the soundtrack of a movie be any more important than the soundtrack of our lives? I don’t think that it is… I think that music has the power to influence us – our moods, our thoughts, our focus, and our hearts. With that in mind, I wanted to create an uplifting and positive playlist for 2010. I wanted one that I can play for my kids, share with my friends, and truly listen to over and over again. Songs that will lift me up when I am down, songs to remind me of my kids when I am out of town, songs that make me dance, and songs that just make me happy. I tried to keep it at normal soundtrack length, but that didn’t happen. I ended up with 26 songs on my long list. I have a shorter version, too, but felt the need for a 2 cd collection – my life is worth that right!?!?!?!

Now – so is yours! Take time and sit down… Create a playlist or soundtrack for your life for 2010. Pick your favorite inspiring songs, songs that make you smile, sing, and embrace life. You want songs that make you feel good – no lost love, sad, sappy stuff here. This is all about feeling good and being the leading man or woman of your own story with the kickin’ music to go with it…

Get to work… Leave a comment of your top song for 2010 and maybe I will have a prize for someone… (hint, hint – I WILL have a prize!)

a playlist for life… — 15 Comments

  1. Right off the bat, I can tell you that a top song for me would be “I’m About To Let Go,” by The Barlow Girls. That actually may not be the official name of the song, but the way they recorded the song with the next line being “and live what I believe!” just gets me every time I hear it. I want to live that way, and I DO try!

  2. This one’s hanging with me into the new year..
    Not a new song, just refound;

    Return to Innocence- Enigma

Thanks for sharing your playlist. Happy New Year!! Love the new blog site.

  3. By the way, I love your layout! Where is the twig and the bird from on the envelope? Stickers? Die cuts? So cute!

  4. What a great idea! I would have to really give my “soundtrack” some thought – I have pretty eclectic tastes in music… Happy New Year, Stephenie! Hope it is AWESOME! ;)

  5. My sound would be “need you now” by lady antebellum It just says so much

  6. I really like the song “Born Again” my Third Day and a lady with a really sweet voice. It is such a pretty song.

  7. Hmmm, I think I would start with, It’s Raining Men, (this from somebody that’s been married for almost 36 years lol). It’s one of those songs that I can’t just sit still for.

  8. My top song for the year is “Don’t Stop Believin'” off of the Glee soundtrack. My song list is all done, I narrowed it down to 30 songs, lol! Happy New Year Steph!!!!

  9. OMJ.. I have no clue what my song would be ! Will have to think about it. I almost didn’t recognize your blog ! Such a change and that can be a good thing, sometimes. (we’ve had computer problems and I’m just now trying to find all my favorite blogs !)

  10. love love love your choice of music!! most of my favorite artists too!! rock on Stephenie!! love the new look too!! many blessings to you this 2010!! smooch!!

  11. “Girl’s Just Wanna Have Fun” — would be my top pick (so I remember to have more fun!) … I haven’t been able to narrow down my playlist on my ipod to anywhere near 1-2 Cd’s! LOL

  12. the song that does it for me everytime is Place Your Hands by Reef. It may be old but it takes me back to the beginning of a great adventure that was a turning point in my life and makes me smile and feel brilliant everytime I hear it. Working on my list right now – is 45 too many???? Love this idea. A new yearly tradition in the making I think. Thanks for the inspiration!
